Lincoln County Criminal Court Cases
Lincoln Circuit Court is the felony trial court. It records felony pleas, trials, sentences, and appeals within its jurisdiction. Lincoln District Court handles misdemeanors, traffic and ordinance matters, and the early steps in felony cases, including complaints and preliminary hearings. Juvenile matters also run through District Court but are confidential. Stanford, Crab Orchard, and Hustonville do not operate separate municipal criminal courts. Lincoln Circuit and District Cases
A felony may first appear in District Court under a complaint. If a grand jury returns an indictment, the prosecution moves into Circuit Court and receives a separate case number. Lincoln Criminal Case Clerk Counter
The normal court location is the Lincoln County Judicial Center at 101 E. Main St. in Stanford. During repairs, the clerk's office is temporarily at 104 Agriculture Way, while hearings and other court work stay at the Judicial Center. Call 606-365-2535 and check the official county court page before traveling. Public hours are listed as Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For an older file, tell the clerk that archived material may be involved and provide an approximate year. A State Records Center locator number can help with an offline Lincoln County case. Reading Lincoln Criminal Case Outcomes
“Disposition” means the recorded outcome. “Nolle prosequi” means the prosecutor formally chose not to proceed with a charge at that time. An acquittal is a not-guilty judgment, while a dismissal ends the charge without a conviction. A plea agreement is a proposed negotiated result that still requires court action. These terms answer different questions and should not be compressed into a broad label such as “criminal record found.”

Federal Cases Outside Lincoln Courts
